The challenge

Main Street DBAs provides managed database administration, giving businesses flexible access to senior specialists across platforms including SQL Server, Oracle and PostgreSQL. Its team can take on ongoing support, extend an existing IT function or fill a specialist gap without the cost of building a full in-house DBA team.

Main Street had already worked with an agency on outbound email, but the results had fallen short. The team brought in H2 to improve the programme with a more precise objective: find the companies that needed database support, and reach the right person when that need became a priority.

The result

H2 tested several ways to identify demand. A strong source was companies advertising multiple database administration roles. Those vacancies signalled an immediate need for capacity, creating a timely opening to position Main Street's experienced team as a flexible, cost-effective alternative to another full-time hire. Messages backed the offer with examples of Main Street's previous work.

A second approach combined company and technology data with the size of the existing DBA team. H2 assessed the database platforms in use and the people available to support them, then prioritised accounts where the evidence suggested a gap in capacity or specialist coverage. This made outreach relevant to the prospect's operating needs, rather than just its industry or headcount.

The programme generated 134 leads and $873k in pipeline, giving Main Street a more focused way to start conversations with companies that had a practical reason to consider managed database support.
